"It is," Alec agrees. "I was making a joke. Kind of. You don't know me well enough to know that I never really stop, even if I don't always say anything, but that's what I was referring to."
"Which... is why I want to talk about earlier. Just a little." He doesn't want yo make a big thing of it but he's also realized the problem in just trusting himself not to be a dick.
"I know you know a thing or two about anger. And how that anger comes out sideways sometimes."
"No," he replies immediately, emphatically. "That's my point. I was already angry and then I found out you'd been stuck dealing with your room that way because the Admiral dropped the ball."
"I would like for you to feel comfortable telling me when things are wrong," Alec allows, because that's true, "But it doesn't make me angry with you."
"Yes, but usually in consistent ways." He really isn't surprised, though, either by the Admiral or by Credence not saying anything and not thinking anything is wrong.
"The end goal is that you feel confident in speaking up. That's it."
"...alright," he says. Reflexively, he splits that in half. Speak up, he
supposes he can do if Alec needs him to. Feel confident in doing it? Well,
that's harder, but it's not necessary, really. "I'll try."

"I didn't really...think it was wrong. Just cold. And everywhere's cold right now."
